The unique, undulating motion of The Belly Dancer® platform shaker is designed to provide the optimal movement for tissue culture, staining and destaining gels, Northern, Southern, or Western blotting, and immunoprecipitation. The simple liquid agitation system, consisting of an orbiting platform flexibly anchored at four corners so that the platform motion, when adjusted by the platform pitch control collar, is an extremely effective combination of rocking platform mixer and orbital shaker. Agitation is gentler but more efficient than the action of ordinary shakers. The smooth combination of vertical and horizontal orbital motion allows for more rapid exchange of solvents in applications like staining and destaining gels and protects sensitive cell lines from sheering in cell culture. The BDRLS0003 comes complete with the standard 12" x 12" platform with the white silicone mat. It also includes the 12" x 12" black urethane tube mat ideal for shaking / mixing tubes. For shaking tubes on the tube mat, the best mixing action is a flat orbital mixing action (not undulating).
The Belly Dancer® has a simple, durable construction and is made of chemically resistant materials including stainless steel and anodized aluminum parts with a high bake ester finish on the case. The Belly Dancer® comes with an open-sided platform to accommodate oversized containers and a removable, washable non-skid platform shaker mat. The flat power cord can also pass through the door gasket of incubators without compromising the environment. The platform can easily be adjusted with the platform pitch control collar from level motion to an 8° pitch. The Belly Dancer® can hold up to 20 lbs. with extremely quiet operation. The operating temperature range is 0° C to 40° C. The speed varies from 0 to 100 rpm with no cogging at slow speeds.
The Urethane Tube Mat is a 12 x 12" urethane mat that accommodates small tubes (5 ml) up to 50 ml in size. The Silicone mat is also included in the kit for shaking cell culture plastics or petri dishes, etc.

Read through entire instructions first, and then go back through step by step. • You are going to remove the 4 screws from each corner of the top platform. These screws hold the grommets in place that the tubing/legs attach to on the underside of the platform. • Remove ONE at a time. • Replace each screw with the threaded end of the 2nd story posts. Tighten. • Once all 4 screws have been replaced with 4 posts. • Place the 2nd story platform on top of the 4 posts. • Use the 4 screws that you removed from the bottom platform to attach the top platform to the posts. Now you are done.
The Belly Dancer® is making a squeaking noise what should I do to quiet this? Putting a drop of non-penetrating oil in the tilt assy will quiet the unit. (DO NOT use WD-40)
Why does the case of The Belly Dancer® have dust on it? The dust being generated is from the washer. The washer is a wear item and keeps the metal parts from rubbing together. Most of the particles are re-absorbed by the rubber washer, however, when there are heavier loads on the unit, some dust will/may appear on the top of the case. This is not a defect.
