SeeBand Protein Stain is a convenient alternative to traditional coomassie blue protein staining procedures. The ready-to-use stain does not contain methanol or acetic acid or require hazardous solvents for destaining. The simple hands-off staining/destaining procedure saves valuable time and reduces exposure to hazardous materials and solvent waste.
Extraction Grade SeeBand Protein Stain is suitable for staining proteins in extraction work, staining 2-D gels, staining gel prior to Western Blotting, and staining for long-term documentation. The stain also provides clear, sharp bands, high sensitivity below 10ng of protein per band, and the ability to track staining intensity during staining. The stain will not interfere with Western Blotting.
To stain a gel, first remove stacking gel. Then, rinse gel with 300ml of water three times for 10 minutes each. Next, stain gel with SeeBand stain for 60 minutes (completely submerge gel). To destain, rinse with deionized water for 30 minutes (do not continue over night). For optimal results, longer staining may be necessary.

Coomassie Blue Staining of proteins in SDS-PAGE gels is a daily procedure in many laboratories. It is popular among life science researchers, due to its good sensitivity and relative ease of use. Traditionally, Coomassie Blue staining requires a methanol and acetic acid solution to achieve staining and destaining. SeeBand Protein Staining Procedure
Remove stacking gel
10 min 3x Rinse gel with 300 ml of water (for denaturing gels)
1 hour Staining with SeeBand Protein (completely submerge the gel) 20 mls/mini gel
30 min Destain in Deionized Water (Do Not continue overnight)
NOTE Longer destaining my be necessary for optimal results
Store at +4°C. Protect from light. Protect from moisture. Keep tightly sealed.
Can SeeBand Stain be reused if saved after staining a gel?Yes, it should be fine to re-use because it won’t put protein in the gel even if it would contaminate. It shouldn’t be poured back into the primary bottle. Store it separately from the stock solution.
