The IBI High-Speed Plasmid Mini kit is designed for the rapid isolation of plasmid or cosmid DNA from 1 - 4ml of bacterial cultures. The modified alkaline lysis method and RNAse treatment are used to create cleared cell lysate with minimal genomic DNA and RNA contaminants. In the presence of a chaotropic salt, the plasmid DNA in the lysate, binds to the glass-fiber matrix of the spin column. The purified plasmid DNA is eluted by a low salt elution buffer or water. This procedure does not require DNA phenol extraction or alcohol preceipitation. Typical yields are 20-30ug of DNA for high-copy number plasmid or 3-10ug for low-copy plasmid |

In this process, the modified alkaline lysis method and RNase treatment are used for creating cleared cell lysate with minimal genomic DNA and RNA contaminants. IBI Gel/PCR DNA Fragments Extraction kits are designed to recover or concentrate DNA fragments (50bp - 10kb) from an agarose gel or any other enzymatic reaction. This method uses a chaotropic salt, guanidine thyocianate to dissolve the agarose gel and denature the the enzymes. The DNA fragments in the Chaotropic salt are bound to the glass-fiber matrix of the spin column. After washing off the contaminants the purified DNA fragments are eluted by a low salt elution buffer or water.
